Is this a game of chance?
Absolutely not! Even though we like Poker and Liar’s Dice, this employment
offer is not a game of chance and luck has nothing to do with who we hire. This
is a real full time temporary position and there’s a real recruitment and interview process that will determine
who’s hired based on how well they meet the job criteria and can promote Murphy-Goode
Winery.
Do I need to get a video camera in order to apply?
Well, yes, since your application needs to include a video. If you don’t have one,
you could perhaps ask your friends if they have one you could borrow. Make sure
you know how to use it.
Can I bring someone along if I get the job?
If there is someone you absolutely cannot live without (and can live with) for six
months, bring them along. But you must know: that part’s on your dime. We will provide
only one roundtrip airline ticket for you from and to the airport nearest your home.
You will have to pick up any additional costs for your special someone.
How often will I get paid?
You will be paid every two weeks. If the contract is terminated before January 31,
2010, then your salary will be paid on a prorated basis.
Can I go home in an emergency?
Of course you can: we’re not beasts. Your family comes first.
Does this job turn into a full-time permanent position after the six-month period is over?
This is strictly a temporary position. We do not promise employment after the six-month
contract period. The successful candidate is not entitled to participate in the company's medical or other benefits.
Will all applications be displayed online?
Not all of them. Video applications will be moderated to ensure they’re suitable
to be posted (see "The Video"). We reserve the right to refuse to post any video application for any reason.
Is the selection based on where the applicants come from and where Murphy-Goode
Winery is?
No. Murphy-Goode Winery has worked with its Human Resources Department to ensure
that all applications are judged equally, fairly and impartially on a strictly applied
selection criteria. Murphy-Goode is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate
on the basis of race, national origin, color, sex, age (over 40), religion, disability,
marital status, veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other
trait protected by federal, state or local law.
What happens if I’m selected for an interview but can’t make the dates?
Applicants must be available for 4-day interview (plus travel time) starting July 18, 2009 and for the six-month contract period of August 15, 2009 to February 14,
2010.
